Ep. 00 - 11 - BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Bamboozled (2000)

To close out Black History Month for Las Películas Sábados Gigantes at The Cinemarijuana Theatre, we took a look at an incendiary and painful satire of the Hollywood establishment, and the racism that is inherent to it. That's right, we screened none other than the Spike Lee joint from 2000, Bamboozled.

That's right, we screened none other than the Spike Lee joint from 2000, Bamboozled. I don't know who created the whole shots fired meme, but boy does it apply to this unflinching takedown of some genuine bullshit. Starring Tommy Davidson, Savion Glover, Jada Pinkett Smith, Damon Wayans, and Michael Rappaport, Bamboozled tells the story of a television executive with some interesting ideas for his network's fall lineup. Could we handle the heat this film was dishing out? Or did we, like the critics, complain that Lee took things too far? Uh, only one way you are gonna find out...
